Welcome to my Practice and Med Spa, SpaBlack! As a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon I am confident that you chose the right place to have your Cellfina performed. My Staff is highly trained and the people that will be performing the procedure have had it done themselves! They know both sides, from the patient to the performer of the procedure and their results are posted on both sites!
Some Cellulite requires more than just a release, but actual Fat Grafting to push the deep dimples out. It is important to note that since I am an active Plastic Surgeon, should you ever need additional procedures, we will discount them. Should you choose the surgical route, this amount will go toward your surgery, effectively handing you a “limited guarantee” .
Of course, no one provider can guarantee perfection or reduction in all cellulite, but at least you can feel comfortable knowing a Plastic Surgeon owns and backs this process!
Thank you again for coming to see me, my Practice and Spa Black.
It is estimated that up to 85 percent of women develop cellulite at some point. This unsightly condition can make a woman feel self-conscious about wearing bathing suits, shorts, tight pants and other types of clothing, and it can negatively affect their self-esteem. For many years, there was no reliable way to treat cellulite; covering it up was the only option. That changed in 2014 with the debut of Cellfina®, the longest lasting FDA-cleared procedure for treating cellulite.
At Spa Black in San Antonio, we are pleased to offer this revolutionary, minimally invasive treatment on an outpatient basis. Led by Dr. Jeneby, we are your premier destination for facial rejuvenation, cellulite treatments, and much more. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.

What is Cellulite?
To understand how Cellfina® works, it helps to understand what cellulite is. Put simply, cellulite occurs when fibrous connective bands that are woven through the fat that lies just beneath the skin pull down. This causes the telltale dimpling that cellulite is known for. This condition doesn’t just afflict overweight women; it affects slim and fit women as well. Researchers are unsure why certain women develop cellulite and others don’t, but it appears that genetics play a huge role.
How Cellfina® Works
In the past, most cellulite treatments involved massaging the affected area to loosen up those taut bands and to smooth out the surface of the skin. This approach left a lot to be desired as it only produced minimal improvements.
Cellfina® is different. It works by breaking up the bands, or septae, that pull down on fat deposits to cause dimpling. First, a licensed physician marks the dimples that are to be targeted–usually about 30 to 40. Next, an anesthetic solution is injected below the skin. The same device that’s used to deliver the anesthetic is used to affix a suction cup to the dimpled skin to pull it taut. From there, an ultra-fine needle is inserted and used to cut the septae. In turn, the skin “snaps back” and smooths out, and cellulite is diminished.
One Cellfina treatment improves the appearance of cellulite on the thighs and buttocks for five years, according to new data presented by Merz at the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) in Phoenix, AZ.
This new data builds upon Cellfina’s duration of effectiveness, which was previously three years – the longest FDA clearance for a cellulite treatment.
Of the patients who completed the five-year follow up, evaluators rated 100 percent of the patients as having noticeable improvement after five years. “With this new five-year data, patients and physicians should feel confident that Cellfina is the right step toward proven, noticeable and lasting results in the improved appearance of cellulite,” says Chestnut Hill, MA-based dermatologist and Cellfina five-year study group member Michael Kaminer, MD, in a news release. “Creams and other cellulite treatments lead to limited patient satisfaction, while Cellfina patients experience enduring results. The study results confirm what we regularly see in practice.”
It typically takes two to three months to see a noticeable improvement. The Cellfina™ System is intended for long term improvement in the appearance of cellulite in the buttocks and thigh areas of adult females as supported by clinical data demonstrating no significant reduction in treatment benefits up to 3 years of observation.
Fortunately, side effects associated with Cellfina® are minimal and easy to manage. The most common include tenderness, soreness and bruising at the treatment site. Most women are able to resume their normal activities immediately after leaving. At the most, some patients require Tylenol to deal with minor discomfort.
Who’s an Ideal Candidate?
This treatment is intended for women who have cellulite around the thigh and buttocks areas. The ideal candidate is in good shape and within 10 pounds of their ideal weight, as excessive fat may pull down on the skin too much for treatment to be effective.
