What is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling is a procedure that employs a small device to make tiny holes in the desired treatment area. This is done to trigger the body’s natural healing mechanism; in response to micro-needling, new collagen (the amino-acid protein fiber primarily responsible for skin’s fullness and suppleness) and elastin (the compound primarily responsible for returning skin quickly and fully to its resting state after being stretched or contracted) are formed. After age 20, collagen decreases at a rate of approximately 1% per year, and more quickly with significant exposure to damaging sunlight. Elastin concentrations also fall predictably and gradually over time.
